Smart ladies loves to wear high heels, of course due to right reasons. As you are aware, high heels can even boost your career growth. Even though high heels have so many advantages like this, being in high heels is not as easy as being in flat shoes. Decreased stability is one of the side effects of wearing high heels. Here we are discussing how we can be more stable and at the same time not compromising on style, when in high heels.
1 Have a thicker heel – the more narrow the heel, the more unstable
Thicker (chunky) heel enhances stability significantly. Narrow heels may be lesser stable than heels which have broader base. You can even go for wedge heels. However, since the wedge high heels are not flexible you may find it less comfortable to take walks in them unless they are slip-on wedge sandals.

2 Strengthen your calf muscles to improve balance
There are many stretching exercises you can undertake to strengthen your calf muscles. This stretching activity can even help you prevent foot pain caused by heels, apart from improving the balance when wearing them.
3 Practice walking in them – some high heels require more balance!
Walking in high heels is not a cake-walk, though some high heels are as attractive as cakes! When you buy a new pair of heels, it is a better idea to walk in them at home to how difficult or easy to walk in them. This practice session would give you the necessary confidence when stepping out in them.
4 Be cautious when in crowded surroundings and when fatigued
It is better to be cautious when you are in crowded surroundings if you are wearing high heels. Similar is the case when you are fatigued after having a long work day or so. If you happen to wear high heels and unexpectedly work for long hours in a day, remove the high heels and wear a pair of medium heeled footwear before heading home. It is better to wear medium heels if you are expecting to work long hours on a particular day.

5 Have more coverage on top of your foot
Having more coverage on top of your foot, like in high heel boots, gives more stability. High heel sandals with lot of straps around would also provide similar amount of stability to your high heels while walking.

6 Consider a lower heel height – the higher the heel, the more unstable
It is better to wear high heels of your natural heel height (or lower). Ultra high heels are suitable as a fashion statement and you can wear them if you are sitting most of the time. But if your day involves walking and standing apart from sitting, better go for heels with your natural heel height. You may also use different ideal heel height depending on different occasions.
7 Avoid slip on high heel sandals when walking a lot
Slip-on high heels can unexpectedly ‘slip-off’ as well! So be careful while on slip on heels. Better avoid slip on high heels if your day involves walking for most of the time during the day. Slip on heels are great if you are sitting and occasionally walking.
8 Avoid stilettos if standing most of the time
Standing in stilettos can cause foot pain. Of course there are ways to relieve foot pain due to high heels. If you expect to stand all day long, better avoid stilettos. If you still want to wear stilettos and stand for the whole day, do stretching exercise for your calves and feet once back home.
